Game Week 37 Preview

Remember that #GW37 kicks off tonight, Friday May 12th at 19:45 – make sure you’ve submitted your pick by then to avoid disappointment.

You can’t say you haven’t been warned! All season long we’ve been bangin’ on about the West Brom curse and it came back with a vengeance this weekend. After losing 4 on the spin, and away at the impenetrable Turf Moor, The Baggies ripped up the form book to claim a point (and very nearly came away with all 3) to cut Q-Sphere League leader Philip Drew’s and second placed Jamie Camble’s lead to  just 2 and 3 points respectively with only 2 Game Weeks remaining.

Third placed Jeff Coleman and fourth placed Martin Wood were able to rely on Chelsea and Leicester respectively, and if they have similar picks left then you can be sure it’ll be squeaky bum time at Drew HQ over the next 10 days or so.

It’s also worth noting that a small group of TFGers are waiting on results from previous Game Weeks which may alter the formation of the top 10; with that in mind it’s worth reminding ourselves of this year’s prize structure:

1st place ~ a football shirt of choice up to the value of £60 & a TFG goodie bag.
2nd-5th ~ a TFG goodie bag.
6th-10th ~ a limited edition TFG T-shirt and limited edition TFG badge.
11th-20th ~ a limited edition TFG badge.

So looking ahead to Game Week 37 and if you’ve been strategic enough to leave yourself something other than relegation fodder then give yourself a pat on the back as there’s a good chance you’ll need it to get 3 golden points this weekend.

Everton will be firm favorites to beat Watford at Goodison and you’d expect Ronald Koeman’s side to steer free of the contagious ‘Flip-Flop’ Syndrome that seems to be plauguing other similarly placed teams at present.

Bournemouth will hope to continue their recent good form by beating Burnley and if you’ve still got a Cherries pick left now would be a good time to pick them.

Elsewhere the stats team say Liverpool will win at West Ham but they also said Spurs would win there last week so ignore as you see fit, whilst Chelsea will go to West Brom knowing that a win can seal Antonio Conte’s men the title. However, if you still go with a team to beat West Brom after reading this email you deserve everything you get (most likely 1 point!).

In a strange twist, several of the relegated/relegation threatened sides are playing each other, so whilst there’s a decent chance you may pick up a point, or even all three, there’s just as good a chance that if you go with Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Hull or Swansea you may come away with three quarters of four fifths of naff all. All we can say is good luck!

We make no effort to halt our shameless self promotion by asking you not only to add your email address to the box on our homepage if you’re interested in playing next year, but to also direct friends, enemies, relatives young and old, the lads down the pub and strangers you meet on the bus to do the same too!

Remember you need to submit your selection by the time the first fixture of each Game Week kicks off. This week that’s when the Everton vs. Watford game kicks off at 19:45 on Friday night.

When you’re ready to make your pick, you can do so by clicking HERE.

That’s our pondering done, whoever you pick, good luck!

Yours footballingly,

Team TFG
